Chancellor’s Fellowship BHF Centre for Research Excellence at The University of Edinburgh

These 5-year Fellowships are intended to support candidates at the start of their independent academic careers in a world-leading environment. Subject to satisfactory review at the end of year 4 as part of the Edinburgh Scientific Academic Training programme to which fellows will enrol https://www.ed.ac.uk/medicine-vet-medicine/research-support-development-commercialisation/edinburgh-scientific-academic-track Fellows will then move to a standard University academic open-ended contract. It is anticipated that most appointees will be successful in obtaining an open-ended contract.
Appointment will be on the Grade 8 (£39,324 – £46,924) or Grade 9 (£49,772 – £55,998) academic scale dependent on experience.

REA3 research is driven through 3 pillars of research excellence that focus on specific research questions central to their field of study with clear interconnectivities through methodologies, technologies and approaches across these areas:
- Diabetes and the Metabolic Syndrome as Drivers of Cardiovascular Disease
- Fibrosis and Calcification in Cardiovascular Disease
- Vascular Dysfunction: Blood Vessels, Vascular Disease and Vascular Dementia
Our pillars are closely aligned with 2 major cross-cutting themes:
- Innovation in Imaging
- Cardiovascular Healthcare Data Science
Fellows will develop a research programme relevant to REA3 research. Project proposals should be clearly aligned with REA3 themes and projects working across themes are encouraged to maximise research impact.
